Christian Cota Fall/Winter 2011-2012 Collection for Women

After Cinco de Mayo, I wanted to ensure that we had some Mexican Fashion Designers represented here at FashionShowVideo.net.  This show is the Christian Cota Fall/Winter 2011-2012 Collection for Women (Full show).

There are a lot of layered looks in this collection.  Long, loose-fitting dresses and pants are paired with jackets and wool wraps, and thick, loose-fitting leather boots.  Many of the items have fur added to the cuffs and collars of the clothing, or are accented with a feather neck wrap and a hooded sweater.

The clothing of this collection is beautiful.  The palette is composed of different shades of browns and grays—offset with white.  The patterns are natural, muddled patterns, and the fabrics are tweeds and knitted wools.

Later in the collection, we start to see some solid-colored dresses—some with patterns sewn into them for contrast.  Cota also has the models wearing the clothing in a unique way—a beautiful, full jacket worn with one sleeve off.  Bits of a red blouse peek out from underneath.  The splash of color is quite dramatic against the muted hues of the winter collection.  It is an element we see repeated in many of the pieces.

Some of the fabric textures of the collection are exquisite.  The material in several tops looked like black scales outlined in gold.  It looks almost as if lava was surrounding unmelted rock.  The sweaters also had bold patterns offset with fur around the collar.

Overall, there is a lot of movement with the clothing, and the fabrics look luxurious and warm.  This collection is a nice mixture of color, texture and materials, and a wonderful, warm and dramatic winter collection.
